Eskil Forås completed a master degree in environmental physiology at the University of Bergen Norway 1995. He has worked in the fish farming industry (1996-1997) and in the software industry 1997-2991). Traceability has been one of his focus areas during both periods.
In 2001 he started his career as a research scientist in SINTEF Fisheries and aquaculture. The research activities have been on traceability and electronic traceability in food chains. Forås has participated in both national and international traceability projects. These projects have been focusing on; international traceability standards, labeling of products, electronic data capture (RFID etc) and implementation guidelines for traceability in the food industry. He is currently involved in a governmental e-Traceability project in Norway and a bilateral project on traceability of mackerel products between Norway and Japan.
